Why I love My Apron

So here is a confession. I wear an apron. I don't just wear an apron when I am cooking or in the kitchen. I wear one pretty much all the time. I am wearing one as I type these words. It might seem strange to you that I wear an apron literally all day but let me tell you a story and maybe you will change your mind. Picture an April that existed a few months ago. An April who never bothered to get dressed or even shower before her children's 2pm nap because she figured (correctly) that throughout the course of the morning things would be spilled on her clean clothes. This April felt sad that she always looked to grungy. This April felt dread anytime someone showed up before 3pm. This April was generally unhappy with herself. And then one day this April decided it was worth it for her to look nice each day. Not for her children, her random neighbors who liked to stop by at 10:00am, not even for her husband (although it is a nice bonus for him.) but for HERSELF! So she started showering and getting dressed BEFORE her kids woke up. The only problem was she was still getting food/vomit/occasional poo/liquids on her nice clothes. Then the solution came. Just like her pioneer sisters of old, she started wearing an apron.
So there it is. Now, I can be fully dressed in nice clothes, feel great, and if the doorbell rings or I need to run an errand, all I do is toss the apron aside and BAM! Ready for business.

New Family Photos!!!

Nothing makes me happier than new family pictures. These are some of my favorites from the shoot.

 I seriously love this picture.

Can't get enough of that face. Try to pretend to be happy Brady.

My all time ever favorite picture!

Cake, Ice Cream, and Turning 25.

This year was different for me. Usually I get so excited for my birthday and have lots of fun planning what I want to do and what kind of cake I want and all that. This year, I just wasn't into it. I think it was partly because I was so crazy busy the week before and because I was turning 25. This is the first Birthday I have ever had where I actually felt old. Anyway, because of stress from alterations and the general blah-ness I was feeling about turning 25, I just didn't do anything. Ike asked what I wanted for my birthday and I decided I just wanted to buy a bunch of clothes. So I did and it was awesome. Instead, my birthday became about Jackson's birthday and I was actually really OK with that. I had a lot of fun planning his presents and getting things ready for his big day. Maybe next year I will want my own cake and my own party but this year I felt good not making a big deal.

Jackson had an excellent Birthday! I will admit that because of the lack of time and abundant stress I was feeling the week prior, I didn't do as good a job as I normally try to do on his Birthday cake. In fact, I think that besides the Patriots logo, it looked pretty horrible. But that is what is so nice about being 3. He was so thrilled that the cake had the Patriots logo on it that he didn't  care the rest of it looked so bad!

I used the tutorial found here to make the Patriots logo. I will definitely do this again in the future!

Jackson loved opening his presents and eating his cake and ice cream. He had a great birthday.

B is for...

Blocks.
Brady.
Boy is this kid getting chunky.

Notice his runny nose? He and Jackson have been passing a cold back and forth for a month.

Pretty sure I am never putting a shirt on him again. I love that fat belly!

Easter Egg Hunt!

The week before Easter, Fullerton does a town wide Easter Egg hunt at the park for kids 0-8yrs old. I almost didn't take Jackson because I kept having visions of 8 year olds pushing him over and him not getting any eggs and crying. But, after we got there I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had gridded off sections of the park for different age groups. The 0-2 section wasn't really an egg hunt as much as it was an egg bend over and pick up. They weren't really hidden, which was nice.

You can see there were eggs pretty much everywhere.

Getting ready for them to let us go!

Brady wasn't as excited as he was chilly. It was kind of a cold day.

Check out that haul!!!

I am really glad Fullerton does this because I have struggled with the idea of doing my own Easter Egg hunt on Easter. I kind of want to keep Easter Sunday about the Resurrection and not about candy and Bunnies. Fullerton did this one the Tuesday before which I really liked because I didn't have to have the, "Here is a basket of candy but today is really about Jesus" talk.

Easter Break and a Beautiful Day!

We had an awesome Easter Break! It was such a beautiful weekend and it was so fitting for Easter. We took the kids to the park and played around. Soon it will be warm enough for us to go to the park almost every day and I can't wait!

Brady's first time in the slide!

 This always freaks me out.
 So STRONG!

 Look at those cuties!
