No Camera...No Posts :(

The light in our closet blew out a few weeks ago and in order to find some clothes one morning I took the rechargeable batteries out of my camera and put them in a flash light. Unfortunately, later that day Jackson was playing with said flashlight and I have not seen it since. The batteries in the flashlight are the only ones I own and until I find it (or eventually break down under the immense pain of not being able to use my camera and buy two new rechargeable batteries) I won't be able to take pictures and because I HATE HATE HATE (HATE!) posting without pics, my number of posts will decrease. I am sure the camera will turn up eventually..hopefully..*sigh*.

So anyway today I thought I would just write updates as to what the kids were up to lately.

Jackson:
Jackson has been really into Thomas the Tank Engine lately. He is also my parrot. After hearing a primary song two or three times he can sing almost the entire thing. (I'll try to get a video up of that at some point.)

He has been having really strange dreams lately. The other night he woke up crying around 4:30am that Brady ate his breakfast. It took me a solid 15 minutes to convince him it was not real (I still don't really know if I was successful because he still talks about it.) and go back to sleep. He has also learned to cover his mouth when he sneezes or coughs and likes to show me with mock sneezes and coughs. Jackson is very helpful and obedient and likes to help put toys away.

Brady
No food is safe with Brady in the room. If he can reach it he will eat it. He is getting less and less interested in formula and really only wants to eat solid food. He can pull himself up to a standing position on furniture or anything else he can get a grip on and then he can actually walk holding the furniture to get to where he wants to go. It is really crazy. He does fall a lot which is constatly keeping me worried for concussions. He usually is OK though and gets back up to where he was before. He wants everything Jackson has and wants to be everywhere Jackson is. This is too bad for Jackson because he feels just about the opposite about Brady. I think that is the main reason Brady is so mobile, he is just trying to keep up with Jackson.

Stalker

Brady likes to do everything Jackson does. He especially likes taking baths with him. I think it is because Jackson can't get away. As much as Brady loves to follow Jackson, Jackson does not like Brady following him. Brady willy try to climb up on whatever furniture Jackson is sitting on and Jackson likes to put his foot in Brady's face until Brady either gives up or falls over. (He is pretty good about saying sorry afterwords.)

Hopefully someday they will be best friends. I don't think that is going to happen until Brady learns not to eat Jackson's toys.

Welcome to the Danger Zone.

For the first year and a half of Jackson's life we lived in a one bedroom apartment. The livingroom probably had about twenty square feet of empty floor space and that was pretty much all Jackson had to play in. He crawled kind of late and never really climbed up on things. Now he runs, jumps and tumbles all over everything. Jackson also never had an older sibling to encourage him to crawl and keep up with. Brady is a different story. Our living room is long and we have a fairly sizable dining room and kitchen. Brady started rolling, army scooting, and full out crawling months before Jackson. I think this can mostly be attributed to the extra space to explore and his obsession with being everywhere Jackson is. Combine that with the fact that he eats everything he can put in his mouth (food or not) and that he has just started pulling himself up on things, and he is pretty much a one baby wrecking machine. The pulling up on furniture has been the most stressful lately because although he can pull himself up, he can't gently let himself back down and he ends up just flopping on the hard wood floor. Lots of bumps and bruises on this kid. Thank goodness he is built like a tank.

The Danger Zone:

Notice all the pointy edges and hard surfaces??? Also notice the spit up on the floor in the bottom left hand corner? Stress.

A Return to Posting!

So I took about a month long hiatus from posting. What can I say? This past month has been crazy busy. Christmas, birthdays, family coming, kid's sicknesses and potty training have been taking up all my waking and non-waking moments. So slowly I will get caught up and recap all my holiday excitement! I wanted to start with a few of my favorite homemade gifts this year. Every year I usually end up making at least one thing for someone but this year I made quite a few gifts and these are my favorites!

Sasha's Cape!!! I made this cape for my nephew Sasha and I absolutely love how it turned out. I copied a cape that was given as a gift to Jackson.
 Jackson modeling the cape!
Kiara's Tutu!
I made this tutu for my niece Kiara. I made a tutu like this a few years ago but this one turned out waaaayyy cuter. I really hope I have a daughter someday.
Modeled by a #10 can. It is much closer to her waist size than my mannequin.
Rachel and Joanna's Scripture cases. I made one for my Mom too in shades of yellow but I apparently forgot to take a picture of it. You have to understand that their original scripture cases looked something like this:

Except their's were probably in slightly more feminine colors like maroon and teal. Still not super cute. Also, they were probably like me and still using the same ones they got when they were like 8 years old.  These ones are way better!

Now they won't have to tote around ripped old scripture cases when they go to church. These were probably my favorite gifts that I made.
