Feeling Young and Crazy...

But realizing I am actually getting old.

So Ike and I did a crazy thing. Last Wednesday he came home and said he found a great price on a ticket for the AFC Championship game in Foxboro Mass. He really wanted to go to the Super Bowl this year but I said no. This ticket was pretty cheap (relatively speaking) and with gas as cheap as it is right now AND he used the "Wouldn't it be great for the kids to see their grandparents..." line.

So I said yes. But here is the kicker. In order to get there and have Ike miss the least amount of school we decided to drive the 31 hours it takes to get to New Hampshire from our house in one shot. We left Friday at 5pm and got to New Hampshire at 1:30am on Sunday morning. We did stop and sleep in a rest  area for about an hour around three in the morning on Friday. But other than that we drove non stop. It was long and I may or may not have had an emotional meltdown after about the first 28 hours.

So Ike went to the game on Sunday and the boys and I hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Carr. An awesome added bonus is that the boy's cousins were there too! They had a blast. After the game Ike and I hit the road again but (thankfully) it started to sleet and the roads were horrible and icy. So around 3am we got a hotel. We ended up getting home around 1am on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and poor Ike went to school that day.

This trip taught me many things.
1. I will never plan on driving all night again. It was HORRIBLE!
2. My kids are amazing in the car. I have no idea why they behaved so well. They NEVER cried, had any meltdowns or anything!!!  They were able to watch two movies in the whole first 31 hours and they were fine for the whole rest just sitting in the car, reading their books or playing with toys. I think they handled the car ride better than me.
3. Lack of sleep makes me a disoriented rude person.

Overall, it was a great trip that I will definitely NEVER forget. But, I don't think I would ever do anything like this again. I think I put a cap at max hours driven in one day to be about 16.

Brady chilling in the car.

Ike is ready to REPRESENT!!!!
