Two in the Bed and the Little One Said...

Roll Over! Roll Over!

EDIT: I don't know why my video loaded so poorly. You get the idea though.

Can't tell you how much I love this kid!

The Most Wonderful Thing!

I can't believe I actually forgot to post about this! This past summer Ike got the opportunity to fulfill one of his life long dreams!!! (Those don't get fulfilled every day you know.) He was able to go to a New England Patriots game at Gillette Stadium! I probably forgot to post about it because of all the other stuff I had going on but here are a bunch of pictures!
Ike took his two younger brothers and his dad to the game with him.
Jackson, Brady and I tagged along for a museum tour and a walk around the stadium.
By the New England Patriots Logo on the grass.
Jackson actually had a fever that day but we didn't want him to miss the museum. He is kind of obsessed with the Patriots and we knew he would love it.
Trying on the uniforms in the museum. Jackson wore this one for about 10 minutes and when I tried to make him put it back so we could move on he freaked out. We are probably going to get him a little kid's one for Christmas.

Ike trying on a Super Bowl ring.

Overall, Ike had a complete blast but I still am reeling over the fact that I forgot to give him the camera to actually take to the game. So I have no pictures of the game itself. So sad. I still can't believe I forgot to give it to him.

Lately

Brady

Lately, Brady is all smiles and poopy diapers. Literally. He is the happiest kid in the world. Every time you look at him he is smiling but he also poops ALL THE TIME! Like, almost every diaper is poopy. When does potty training start again? He rolled over for the first time this week and ever since, as soon as you put him on the floor he immediately rolls over or onto his side.

Jackson
Lately, Jackson is a parrot. Everything we say he says so we have to make sure we are using nice words! I have also noticed he is parroting the TV. (He learned the phrase "Happy Birthday!" from Toy Story 3.) He talks a mile a minute and his new favorite thing is to "run fast". Whenever we go on walks he says, "Mom, I run fast!" then takes off. We are learning to not run into the road. Thank goodness Fullerton has no traffic.

Me
I started doing step aerobics once a day while the kids nap and have started Weight Watchers. I am sure there will be more posts on this subject. Also, just noticed that this picture of me is kind of creepy looking. This was the most recent picture I have taken of myself. Brady also looks slightly frightened which ups the creep-o-meter. Mostly I have been doing alterations  jobs and I even got paid to make a cake last week. Always trying to stay on top of laundry. How do two adults and two little kids make so much laundry???

IKE
Ike is the assistant High School volleyball coach so he has left me a single parent for the past few weeks. He has practice every day and usually 2 games a week and sometimes an extra Saturday game or tournament.  So far they are doing better than they have done in the past two years so that is good! We both agree that it will be really nice when the season is over just so we can see each other again.

Yogurt!

So if you google/youtube "homemade yogurt" you will find a million "fool proof" yogurt recipes. Everything from using a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature, cooking it in the crock pot or letting it finish in your oven with the light on. All of these are so easy you can't mess up right??!? WRONG!! IT WAS ALL LIES!!!! There is no fool proof method because I tried several methods and found myself with several batches of  curdled, way too sour, or completely not set yogurt. Finally after a few (OK, let's be honest, several) attempts I finally got a batch of really delicious and good textured yogurt. HOORAY FOR SMALL VICTORIES!

It looks a little soupy in the picture but it was actually the perfect yogurt consistancy. I ended up mixing two methods by heating my milk (I used powdered) on the stove and letting it cool in a bath of cold water in the sink then pouring it into a warm but unplugged crock pot wrapped in a towel and letting it sit 4 Hours. Some websites (In fact most websites) said 6 to 8 but when I did that my yogurt always curdled. Now we can finally stop spending roughly $13 a month on yogurt!

Tender Mercies

This week has been hard. Volleyball games, first immunizations, wisdom teeth removal, and then on top of those add two very sick kids. But even in all the crazy running around and chaos, I have seen the very tender mercy of the Lord in my life this week. Before I had my wisdom teeth out, I asked Ike to give me a blessing. I was so nervous about the procedure and being able to take care of the kids while Ike was at work and at a volleyball tournament this weekend. In the blessing, I was told that I would be able to accomplish everything that I needed to do and that everything would be fine. Well, the day before I had my teeth pulled Jackson got really sick. High fever, sore throat, the works. So I took him in to the Dr. and he had an ear infection (mild) in both ears and the beginnings of strep throat. Lots of Tylenol and antibiotics later, we went to bed. The next day I had my wisdom teeth removed and overall things went well. I was expecting to be in a lot of pain and have my mouth all swelled up for the next several days. Well when I woke up the next morning, I had virtually no swelling. I had very little pain. I was actually really fine. Then Brady woke up and he was not fine. High fever and vomiting. I couldn't get him to eat hardly anything. I spent the morning trying to get his fever down but finally after his nap, with a 103 temp I ran him to the doctor. I had to go get his prescription and then we had to do a urine sample to see if his kidney was infected. Thank goodness it wasn't! So basically it was a crazy day. When both the kids were finally asleep and I was laying in bed thinking about my day I realized how incredibly blessed I was. I had had my wisdom teeth out 24 hours ago. I should have been in horrible pain. I should have had a face like a chipmunk. But I didn't. I felt completely normal and I was able to run my sick kids all around Fullerton and clean up vomit and not feel like I was going to die. I remembered the blessing I received and being told that I would be able to do everything I needed to do. I thought about my day and realized what an incredible act of mercy Heavenly Father had shown me that day. Did I mention that Jackson was 100% feeling better? That last night Brady slept 9 hours straight and woke up without even a hint of a fever? Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up on everything that is hard that we forget how amazing the Lord is and the work he is doing in our lives.

"How can we love days that are filled with sorrow? We can’t—at least not in the moment. I don’t think my mother was suggesting that we suppress discouragement or deny the reality of pain. I don’t think she was suggesting that we smother unpleasant truths beneath a cloak of pretended happiness. But I do believe that the way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life."

Wisdom Teeth

I had a few cavities filled yesterday as well as having my two wisdom teeth pulled. I can't really describe how much I did not enjoy the experience. It was not painful but the feeling and sound (especially the sound!) of having my teeth pulled made me never never never NEVER want to have that happen again. I got to look at them and the one from the top had a huge tail on it. I didn't take any pictures of myself in the Dentist's office or of my teeth afterwords but here is a pretty accurate picture of how I looked going in.
I looked much calmer when I left but that was probably from all the numbing medication in my mouth.
DAY 2 and still no swelling! Yay!
